Assistant Extension Educator Open: November 29, 2007
Location: White Earth Tribal College Extension Office Close: Open until filled
Pay: Dependant on qualifications Benefits: none Status: Part time Temporary
The White Earth Tribal and Community College is seeking a part-time Assistant Extension Educator for their Extension program.
- The focus of the program is on teaching the socio-economic and health benefits of traditional and local foods.
- The successful candidate must first and foremost have demonstrated knowledge of and experience with the various food traditions common to the White Earth Reservation and surrounding communities.
- Knowledge of “wild” plants and wildlife including their food, medicinal and utility value is very important for this position. The successful candidate must be able to identify, harvest and process plants and/or wildlife in a variety of environmental conditions.
- Gardening and greenhouse management skills are also desirable.
Job Duties:
- Assist with Indigenous Gardener Program and other workshops
- Maintain the college greenhouse and work with our collaborative partners
- Maintain Extension Service Garden
- Assist with nutrition courses
- Community outreach and other duties as assigned
